is the label of the Southwest German Broadcasting Company on which recordings of the internationally renowned SWR orchestras and ensembles as well as outstanding archive recordings are released in cooperation with hänssler CLASSIC. The label celebrated its tenth anniversary in October 2010 and over the years has established itself on the fiercely contested music market. The numerous awards and prizes awarded to SWR music attest to its success.
The musical spectrum of the label ranges from major orchestral compositions through a cappella works to chamber music and jazz productions, from the Viennese classical composers Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven to contemporary composers such as Luigi Nono, György Kurtag, and Wolfgang Rihm - to name only a few. SWR music presents musical events of the highest order of excellence.
The SWR not only enriches the international discography with his high-quality recordings featuring internationally top-ranked ensembles but also employs the expertise of its music editors and resources of its archives for photographic and textual materials in order to secure the position of SWR music on the world market.
